Hello - I am currently researching a youth migration scheme for British boys administered by the South Australian Government in 1913-14. 172 boys emigrated in order to become farm apprentices throughout the state, before the First World War interrupted. I am hoping to get in touch with fellow descendants of these migrants and researchers with similar interests. - My great-grandfather, Lewis Grant, emigrated to South Australia as a farm apprentice in 1914. I researched the youth migration scheme for my History Honours thesis in 2007. I was intending to continue my research for a PhD but am now pursuing it in my spare time instead! Ideally I would like to create a website about the scheme, but in the meanwhile I am keeping this blog. The format is not ideal but please browse the blog archive for my earlier postings.
